The Dedication of Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Buckingham took place at 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2011.
It was attended by the Archbishop of Philadelphia Justin Cardinal Rigali, three auxiliary bishops, 62 priests, 19 deacons, 11 area leaders of non-Catholic religious institutions, 37 local dignitaries and more than 1,300 parishioners.
A procession of attendees followed the Cardinal Archbishop into the building, which was entirely and perpetually dedicated to Christian worship through the ancient and sacred Catholic Rite of Dedication of a New Church.
A celebration on the church property followed. Seated comfortably under tents, guests mingled and enjoyed a dinner of roasted pork, herbed potatoes, sautéed green beans with mushrooms and penne in marinara sauce.
A DVD capturing all the details of the event, including the magnificent musical accompaniments, can be ordered from Bradley Digital.
The parish’s next step is to complete the sacred arts installations in the church and chapel and to break ground on the Parish Life Center. Those interested in the Memorial Opportunities in the church or pledging to the Parish Life Center may visit the respective websites or contact the parish office.
