Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Organizations and Ministries Members

  • Liturgical Ministries

    • Altar Servers

      Boys and Girls in Grades 6 – 8 assist the priests and deacon by serving at Weekend Masses by carrying the cross, holding the sacramentary and assisting in the preparation of the altar. New servers are trained during Lent.  Students in 5th grade or older are eligible to train as altar servers.

    • Children’s Liturgy of the Word Leaders

      Children in grades Pre-K through 1st are invited during the 10am Mass at CB East High School to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word at an age appropriate level.  Leaders read the scripture, share the faith and supervise the safety of the children.

    • Eucharistic Ministers

      Serve our community by assisting in the distribution of Holy Communion at Masses and bringing the Eucharist to those ill and disabled in the parish.

    • Lectors

      With prayer and dedication, lectors read the Word of the Lord at Masses as we celebrate the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

              The music ministry consists of cantors. the parish choir, and the parish guitar group.

    • Ushers

      Ministers of Hospitality welcome the community while distributing hymnals, taking up the collection and tending to the needs of families and the elderly.

       

  • Liturgy Support Ministries

    • Altar Linen Society

      The sacred linens are cleaned with dignity and prepared for the celebration of Mass.

    • Church Decorating

      Artistic and helpful efforts bring forth the beauty of the flowers and sacred symbols  at Christmas and Easter.

    • Liturgy Set Up

      All materials for Masses must be transported to the school and then set up and taken down each week.  An essential service for our parish as families and individuals donate their strength and talents.

    • Hymnal Changing

      Organizing for the new Church Liturgical Year bychanging to new hymnals and replacing worn covers.

       

  • Ministries of Service

    • Buckingham Valley Nursing Home Ministry

      Ministry to the residents of Buckingham Valley Nursing Home by monthly Mass, rosary and weekly distribution of Holy Communion.  Musicians, Eucharistic ministers and dedicated volunteers share with fellow parishioners.

    • Collection Counters

      A weekly ministry to process the envelopes and collection for the expenses and missions of the parish.

    • Landscaping

      Caring for the beautification of the grounds of our parish office and parish site.

    • Health & Wellness Ministry

      The Health and Wellness Ministry consists of parish health care professionals and non-professional volunteers with a desire to promote health and wellness in our community and to provide practical assistance to parishioners in need. We provide education on health matters, conduct health screenings, give emotional and family support, provide companionship to the homebound and elderly, give respite to caregivers, and  respond to community needs through various collections and drives.

    • Respect Life Activities:

      Working with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Respect Life Office, this ministry urges all people to respect life at all stages from conception to natural death and give dignity to all people regardless of their abilities, stage of life or health status and to be able to see Jesus in all others.

       

  • P.R.E.P. (Parish Religious Education Program)

    • Catechists

      A worldwide ministry of the church to educate and lead in faith the hearts and minds of young parishioners in the life and teachings of the church.

    • Assistant Catechists

      Assisting the catechists of our parish in their role to help the church and parents in the religious education and faith life of their children.

    • Volunteers

      Parishioners assisting our Religious Education Program in various ministries including the preparation of classroom materials and organization of the PREP school site.

       

  • Parish Representatives

    • Pastoral Council

      Fulfilling the mandate of the Archbishop to have lay participation in the vision and process of the parish life as led by the Pastor.

    • Finance Council

      An oversight council required by Canon Law for the economic stability and strength of the parish to carry out the mission of the Gospel.

  • Sacramental Preparations

    • Baptismal Preparation Team

      A peer ministry to welcome our newest parishioners and help parents prepare for the baptism of their children into the life of the church.

    • R.C.I.A. Team (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

      The sacraments of initiation into the church are baptism, confirmation and Eucharist.  In a communal spirit, the church ministers to adult Catholics and non-Catholics to educate and share the Catholic faith in preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation.

       

  • Youth Ministries

    • Junior High Grades 5-8

      Parishioners committed to assisting our youth to grow in their faith and talents through athletic, cultural, service, social and spiritual ministry activities and teams.

    • High School Grades 9-12

      Working with our Coordinator of Youth Ministry to form a team ministry to help the older youth of our parish develop relationships, mature in their faith and answer Christ's call to serve.

       

  • Parish Development Committees
    • Building Committee

      Assisting the pastor with specific talents and committed faith in providing parish input for building site, architectural and construction plans.

    • Capital Campaign Committee

      Working with our Development Firm to assist pastor in lauching a capital campaign, enlisting and training volunteers and providing leadership for a successful campaign.
