MLK Day of Service

January 20, 2020

Monday, January 20, 2020

10:00 a.m.

First Floor, OLG Parish Life Center

Our parish community will come together to assemble meals for those less fortunate. Caring for Friends, formerly known as Aid for Friends, works passionately toward their mission of alleviating the hunger and loneliness of our senior neighbors and others who are isolated, homebound, or disabled.

You can sign up to join us for the day and/or drop off a cooked protein (chicken, beef, meatloaf, turkey, ham, pork, meatballs, etc.), a starch (potato, rice, pasta, etc.) or a fresh, frozen, or canned vegetable. We will assemble these items into nutritious meals which will be frozen and delivered to Caring for Friends for distribution.

Parishioners of all ages (including children) are invited to drop off your pre-selected contribution to the meals between 8:30 and 10 am. We will start assembling the meals at 10 a.m. for any of you who can join us for the event. This is a great way for teens to get service hours!

January 21, 2020

January 21 - 29, 2020

On January 22, 2020, our nation marks the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the United States. Since that date 60 plus million children’s lives have been lost to abortion. Our prayers and sacrifices make a difference, and do make a tremendous difference in the face of the culture of death with our real hope for a culture of life.

The centerpiece of this prayer effort is a simple, novena with different intercessions, brief reflections and suggested acts of reparation that can be received directly each day through a variety of electronic forms. The “9 Days for Life” allows for a wide number of ways for people of all ages and circumstances to participate.

12:00 p.m. (noon) to 1:00 p.m.

Warminster Planned Parenthood

If you are not able to attend the March for Life in Washington, DC, please consider joining us outside of the Warminster Planned Parenthood on Friday, January 24th for prayer and pubic witness. Prayer is the most important weapon we have to combat the evils in our society; and prayer vigils outside of abortion facilities combine this powerful weapon with our witness to the crimes against humanity taking place in our community every day.

Ash Wednesday Masses

February 26, 2020

Wednesday, February 26, 2020

8:00 a.m., 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church

Ash Wednesday Mass and Distribution of Ashes - Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer.

Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

All men are invited to join Catholic Men from throughout the Archdiocese for the 12th Annual Archdiocesan Catholic Men’s Conference.

Our speaker lineup for 2020 is fantastic. We welcome back acclaimed speaker and author Immaculée Ilibagiza of the best selling book, Left to Tell, about her trials in the war in Rwanda and how she found unconditional love and forgiveness.  We also welcome for the first time former Philadelphia Eagle, Brent Celek and founder of Paradisus Dei, Steve Bollman.  Brent was a leader and tight end for the Eagles for 11 years and finished his football career on top by helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LII.  Steve received a personal call to found a ministry dedicated to the renewal of marriage and family life. He set aside his professional career as an energy derivatives trader to found Paradisus Dei.

We also welcome back acclaimed Irish tenor, Mark Forrest, who will again provide inspirational accompaniment during a special Eucharistic Adoration.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered, and the Conference will conclude with Mass celebrated by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput.

PA Sen. Doug Mastriano and Rep. Stephanie Borowicz are going to be introducing legislation in Harrisburg beginning in the fall of 2019 which would prohibit an abortion once a heartbeat is detected in the fetus. They are still in the process of looking for co-sponsors for their "Heartbeat Bill."  Please urge your senator and representative to co-sponsor this important pro-life legislation.
