The Heart of our Church

Liturgy and worship are at the heart of what we do and who we are as a parish. These groups help us to celebrate the Sacraments and other devotions in a meaningful way in our beautiful Church.

Altar Servers

Boys and girls of the parish in grades 4 through 8 assist the priest and deacons by serving at Mass. The altar server’s primary responsibilities are to carry the cross, and processional candles, hold the sacrament book and assist with preparation of the altar throughout the Mass. New altar server training is in the fall.

Altar Linen Ministry

Therese Albertini, 267-337-3600

These volunteers pick up the soiled altar linens twice a week, wash, and iron them. Clean linens are returned to the sanctuary for the Celebration of the Eucharist.

Art and Environment Ministry

This ministries main role is to enhance the liturgical celebration of the Mass with decorations, especially for the Christmas and Easter seasons.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve our community by assisting in the distribution of Holy Communion at Masses and bringing the Eucharist to those ill and disabled in the parish

Guardians of Guadalupe

Pete Murphy, 267-261-3905

The Guardians of Guadalupe meet each Wednesday morning following the 8 a.m. Mass. These guardian angels help with light cleaning of the Church, chapel, pews and narthex.

Hymnal Changing

One Sunday a year, volunteers remove the hymnals from the church and replace them with new hymnals for the start of the new liturgical year.

Information and Greeting

These volunteers provide our congregation with a warm welcome at all weekend Masses and staff our welcome booth to answer questions before and after Mass.

Lector Ministries

Lectors read the Word of the Lord at Masses as we celebrate the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

The music ministry consists of cantors, adult choir, guitar group, teen ensemble, and the children’s choir.

Sacred Liturgy Committee

The Sacred Liturgy Committee assists the Pastor with the preparation of all the liturgical celebrations at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Sacristans

Sacristans work behind the scenes to prepare the worship space for the celebration of Masses.  Their responsibilities include setting up altar linens, arranging the books, bringing necessary vessels to the altar, maintaining the Sanctuary, and ensuring anything needed for a given celebration of the Mass is available.

All teens in 6th grade through high school age are invited to join “Keep the Faith,” OLG’s teen Christian rock group.

Ushers

Ministers of Hospitality welcome the community, take up the collections during Mass, distribute the parish bulletin after Mass, and tend to the needs of families and the elderly.
